Danni has lived a solitary life alone in a caravan since her mother died. Jacob is her only friend and the one person she trusts with the truth about her circumstances. Covey enters Danni's life abruptly and has little to say for himself. With a letter from Danni's late mother, Covey asks Danni to come and live with him.

Jealous that there is now someone else in Danni's life, Jacob tries to persuade her against the idea. Ignoring Jacob's advice, Danni visits Covey's house but makes a shocking discovery which changes everything.

A climatic scene leaves Covey to pick up the pieces of Danni's shattered existence.
